Default Need Help Foolin' Apple...... (again)!

Well, for some reason, my wife seems to repeatedly find ways to brick her iphone. I do the same mods to both our iphones (1st gen) but for some reason she can't refrain from ******* hers up!!

I have been modding these things since 1.1.1 with all the various ways that have come out in the past (the old school manual method, then ziphone, winpwn and finally quickpwn). So, I have a pretty good working knowledge base and experience of hacking this thing.

The phones are currently on 2.1 quickpwn with cydia and installer added through the quickpwn process. Not unlocked because we have AT&T so no need to. So this is where I am at:

I came home and my wife had managed to do something (what I don't know) to her phone where it will not charge or be recognized by the computer or itunes. It is functioning, however the home button does not work. You have to respring to get out of an application. I can get it to the steve jobs cartoon manually(I think that is DFU mode) but itunes still does not recognize the phone, and it still doesn't go to charge mode when connected to the computer. Oh, and her speaker is now messing up as well.

I can still SSH into the phone perfectly (I use winscp) and do anything I want to that way, but I don't know if I can modify anything to make itunes or my computer recognize the phone.

This isn't the first time my wife has done this. I have managed to return two phones before that she has bricked only because they were to the point that you couldn't even get them to turn on. However, this time the thing works fine except for the connection problem and home button and audio.

I managed to remove anything visually that would tip apple off that it has been modified (nothing is custom now) but for one thing that I need help with. The pineapple boot logo and the steve jobs DFU logo. How do I go about getting those two things back to the factory images so when my wife brings the phone back they won't be able to see that. You know they will try and manually reboot the thing and if they see that pineapple or steve jobs cartoon, we are ******!

Any help would be appreciated, and sorry for such a lengthy post, but I wanted everyone to understand where I am at with this thing. Thanks

P.S.- If anyone can post the stock boot logo (and tell me where to SSH it into the phone) and tell me how to remove the steve jobs DFU logo , that may be enough to return the phone to apple today. I don't think that it can be fixed so I can restore it through itunes, so replacing/removing those images for a return to apple is all I can come up with.

Ok first of all make sure you computer is connected to the internet. might sound dumb but it is a factor that apple have intergrated into itunes and restoring phones.

from you've posted it sounds like a hardware issue with the home button.
i would run the phone right donw on battery as this will cause the phone to reset the hardware manually. once the battery is fully discharged you should then try a restore.

if this doesnt work ensure that your itunes is updated to the lates edition. can you go back to your wife and get the exact story of events before this happened so i can get an idea of what happened.

    Sounds like possibly water damage.

Try placing it into DFU mode...NOT Recovery mode....like this and restore. Also, get a bright light and look down the headphone jack, the circle on the bottom should be completely WHITE....if theres any color to it, it has water damage. DFU:

    1. Itunes open, phone plugged in....phone off.

    2. Hold POWER button for 5 seconds.

    3. WITHOUT letting go of POWER, now hold HOME button for 10 seconds (both held)

    4. Let go of POWER, CONTINUE to hold HOME button until Itunes recognizes phone (should be no longer than 30 seconds).

    5. Restore.

If it wont connect in DFU mode, try it with another USB port if available and/or another computer if available.

If that wont work its most certainly a hardware issue. But the fact that things like the speaker arent working points to a hardware issue anyways.
