My buddy brought me his iPhone today and it was working fine. I took a look at the software version and it was 1.something so I told him we should update it. He was using a T-Mobile sim so it was version 1.something unlocked... The phone was working just fine.
The iphone: Model No. A1203. I believe this is an iPhone 1st Gen. 2G, 8GB. Running software 1.something with T-Mobile Sim.
The problem: I restored the phone using iTunes 8x to software 2.1. Once the phone booted up, the touchscreen would not work.
I then proceeded to restore the phone using a restore file I made with Pwnage2.1 to jailbreak and unlock the phone. Everything went perfectly but, the touchscreen still does not work. I am stuck at the Globe wallpaper, correct time and date and 'slide to unlock' but, I can't do anything because the touchscreen is not working.
What I've tried: I've tried resetting the phone by holding down the power and home buttons. This did not help. I also restored the phone back to the 'stock' 2.1. This did not help. I am now back to Pwnage2.1 and am writing this on here.
My question is: The touchscreen was working perfectly before I did anything to the phone. As soon as I updated the software via iTunes to the 'stock' 2.1, the touchscreen stopped working. I believe this is a software issue and not a hardware issue. Has anyone ran across this before? If so, how did you resolve the issue.
ok since your out of warranty. theres a not a whole lot you can do. But I'd try restoring to 1.x and then using the repair function on Ziphone, if this doesnt work let the battery run donw till its dead then recharge it fully. good luck
I tried everything... My gen 1 iphone cannot be upgraded to anything past 1.0.2 or the touchscreen stops working... I have since downgraded back to 1.0.2 and used ibricker to set it free... No biggie. I was giving the phone away anyway. I have a 3G.
