2.0 > 2.1 - Classic iPhone - Pwnage

hey i just wanted to know as im a classic iphone-er (old style - no 3g)

if i should follow this guide Pwnage 2.x Guide 3G - ModMyi - Wiki

to get 2.1 on my phone but invert anywhere where the slection of the 3g device comes into it with the classic iphone

useing the newer pwnage 2.2 i think it is with the firmware
listed in the guide

iPhone1,2_2.1_5F136_Restore.ipsw

thanks for the link BUT my mistake - i forgot to add that im OSX (leopard)

also i did the pwnage on it from 1.1.1 to 2.0 so i feel capable to do the 2.1 but want to be sure its pretty much the same b4 i go ahead

your fine, the procedure for 3G and 2G iphone's is the same thing. only difference is the firmware file.

iPhone1,2_2.1_5F136_Restore.ipsw 3G firmware

iPhone1,1_2.1_5F136_Restore.ipsw 2G firmware.

my suggestion, is the quickpwn route, its sooo simple too.

update your phone to stock 2.1 firmware. run quickpwn. follow onscreen instructions.

i had just noticed after searching around and doing ma research into it all the firmware file names like you said ... and im downloading the correct one now - thank god you pointed it out and i found it pretty much at the same time --- he he

so without being blond about it all (alltho i am)

i think im gonna 2.1 it but what do you mean by run quickpwn after upgrading?!
what's the difference between the two programs pwnage and quickpwn?! if any? from the screen shots ive seen its pretty much the same....

im only slightly concerned now for my app store apps and sms msgs and notes but i think ive read i can now back those up and restore them late...right? if so im ok with that

quickpwning results in a faster operating iphone. which requires u to have a stcok firmware and it'll jailbroke it.

appstore apps are easy, they are synced with itunes, that'll restore, sms and notes manual back up thru ssh.
