iPhone wont jailbreak, please help
Ok,
so i have an iphone 3g that i want to jailbreak
the problem, it doesnt work
i have tried using pwnage tool 2.1 and quickpwn 1.1 on OS X
note: i am using itunes 8.01
both have the same problem:
after the 9th second of the 2nd step of entering DFU mode, itunes pops up
with an error message and pwnage tool/quickpwn freezes then says entering DFU mode failed and i cant do anything else
i have tried restoring to the custom firmware that pwnage tool makes, but that also fails
i have tried both quick and pwnage tools multiple times allways FAILING
thanks for any help in advance!

Try rebooting your mac.
When the error comes up are you still holding home?? I always get the failed message but keep holding home and a couple of seconds later I get the success message.Don't forget the Thanks if I helped

I had to roll back to 8.0 to get it to work again.

ok, so i did this on quickpwn and it successfully enters DFU mode,
but itunes still pops up with a "waiting for ipod", then other error message,
i close it and quickpwn just has a spinning circle with the text, "quickpwn is about to run on your iphone 3g" that never goes away
to 461: what do u mean by kill
and to chaos: how would i downgrade itunes
wow i sound like a noob, i remeber back in the 1.1.1-1.1.4 days i jailbreak a lot of friends ipod/iphones with no problem,
oh the good old days
thnks again

kill as in close down iTunes, open task manager and close iTuneshelper, mobiledevice, etc.

You need to use Quick pwn first iTunes 8.0 or newer can dectect jailbroken firmware.
1. Run quick pwn as soon as the iphone sceen turns white quit the app
2. go into iTunes and do the restore with the pwned firmware file
One more thing. when you make the firmware (ipsw file)
Make sure you uncheck activate phone iTunes MUST do this or you will get no signalLast edited by vwturbo2008; 10-31-2008 at 07:34 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

To all that are having problems, are you using new aluminum MBs or MBPs?

What software are you on 10.5.5 or 10.5.6 because 10.5.6 disables DFU mode
