issues pwning my 3g iphone am i doing this right??

Hey everyone,
I believe im doing everything correctly but still no such luck.
Ive downloaded the quickpwn and also the pwnagetool. I have the file iPhone1,2_2.1_5F136_Restore.ipsw on my mac also. I start up the tool with the iphone not connected it states its searching for the psw file and never finds it just keeps spinning and spinning. Theres a blue link that says browse for file I click on that and it does nothing. Ive connected my phone and it reconizes that its a 3g and goes back to the screen where its searching for the restore software but never finds it. What am i doing wrong here ??

I would try re-downloading the .ipsw file. Because yeah, your doing it correctly....the file should be recognized.

okay well im gonna try a different link for the file then...any other links for recommendation??to get the file to ensure im getting a good one?

this is the guide im following and im gonna grab the psw file from here instead

You can use the file Itunes downloaded (if it did). Otherwise, there should be a couple links around here somewhere. Look through the Pwnage forum.

Thats all I can think of though, cause if you have a 3g running 2.1 and have the iPhone1,2_2.1_5F136_Restore.ipsw file (which is correct) there's no reason for it not to load.

PS - Make sure you are running the newest version of Pwnage and Quickpwn.

hmm wierd..is there any special spot to place the file?

^^Should auto find it....however you can place the file in the folder with Pwnage/quickpwn if you like....thats the first place the program will look.

damn no luck this time. neither versions of the pwn tool reconize the file. Are there any other programs out there for the MAC to JB a 3g???

BTW do i need to put the programs/tools on the application folder or is it okay being on my desktop.

I suppose I could run the XP on my mac since it is a dual boot (boot camp)but I never got itunes to install for some reason on it. and maybe use one of the windows methods?

one last thing..i think i read somewhere that it makes a difference if you grab the iphone firmware on safari or firefox..is this true?

well after a bunch of tries on my moms PC no luck so i gave my mac running XP another try and it finally worked..thanks everyone. now its time to find some good sources

***wow between none of the mac pwns programs loading up the ipsw's and using quickpwn for pc and having it only load the installer not cydia. sucks ive already restored it once and now it not even loading the installer, i just get the pineapple boot logo and that weird looking guy with the nikes lol..boo for having a bad day
