Close but no cigar
I'll be the first to admit that I am a idiot for doing a restore and update on my iPhone threw iTunes 7.6.2 without first doing anything with the PwnageTool.
That being known here is my situation.
First Gen iPhone which was 1.1.1 out of the box and eventually updated, unlocked and jailbroken using iLiberityX. I had 1.1.4 on it will all sorts of apps etc etc from Cydia and Installer. Whooopty do.
After my dumb restore and update from iTunes it placed firmware 2.1 on the phone. It sits at the ready to be activated screen for emergency calls only with the iTunes logo and cable.
I followed the steps from the Pwnage Tool. First downloading a clean firmware of 2.0 and going threw all the steps. I get as far as successfully creating the 'custom firmware' and the Pwnage Tool says 'I'm in'.
After going to do a restore to the firmware that was just created and when iTunes is done with it's process I get the following error message:

I've even attempted the restore two or three times and the results are the same.
When I plug my phone in now iTunes gives me this error:

Any help with this would be great.
Using iTunes 8.01, OSX 10.5.5 on a FirstGen iPhone. The phone is to be used with Rogers Canada.
Thanks a ton in advance.Last edited by 5thPlaneComin; 10-06-2008 at 02:23 PM.

Watch this video [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ss4ZxjYAAs4]YouTube - Creating a Custom 2.0.2 Firmware For iPhone w/ Windows Vista[/ame] and follow all the way through on WinPwn when it asks yo to put into dfu let it show you how to and follow the steps you should get a white screen after you get this you are ready to use the custom firmware. After you downgrade to 2.0.2 you can upgrade to 2.1 watch this video [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-zmLmj8Foo&feature=related]YouTube - Improved iPhone 2.1 Unlock / Jailbreak Using Windows Vista[/ame].

In mac there is a newer version of WinPwn that you can make a 2.1 custom so it would probably be better yo use your mac just search on youtube for how to make a custom 2.1 firmware

I discovered that I did NOT have the most up to date PwnageTool installed.
That seemed to be one of my issues. I was using PwnageTool 2.03 or w/e - I thought that when checking for updates with that version that it would - you know - update itself.
Anyways having used the PwnageTool 2.1 and having had the bl46.bin file I was able to unlock and jailbreak my first gen phone.
The App Store is great!
HOWEVER - I went to sync it for the first time after reloading everything back into iTunes 8.01 and on my first sync I got this error message:

Anyone come across this yet?
I thought I was in the clear but apparently I still got work to do.
Grr!
up
seems it was a currupt audio file that i simply deleted form the library and its now syncing the rest just fineLast edited by 5thPlaneComin; 10-08-2008 at 01:58 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost
