ok guys i been doing reading a lot of reading and i am still a little confused proabably cause this is all new to me

i got a phone that someone unlocked for me i dont know what they used

the phone is a 2g 8gb unlocked/jail-broke
the current version on the phone is 2.0.1. the phone has lots of my music on it plus lots of winterboard apps i got with cydia and a few games i bought on itunes

i would like to upgrade to 2.1 software version

i have a windows computer. i have unlocked a friends phone with quickpwn before so i am little famililar with process

in order to upgrade my phone can i just upgrade in windows and then use quickpwn 2.1 or is there something else i need to do

you hit it, but I would go onto cydia and download the app that backs up your cydia installed apps then do all of that, it's under utilities... Thanx button in advance

so i dont need to make custom file or nothing just let itunes update then run quick pwn 2.1
someone said restore?

also that utility you speak of is it called app backup

update to 2.1 with itunes and then run quickpwn.

and backups and uninstalling all my sw

You will need to upgrade to itunes 8 to be able to install f/w 2.1.

thanks for reply. i have itunes 8 my questions is do i just hit upgrade and let it do its thing or do i have to load one of the custom 2.1 files on this site

Just update with itunes 2.1 and run Quickpwn to J/B & unlock. Did you read the guide I posted above?
