I am a little confused.. you need to me a little more specific. Where is the spinning wheel? On your computer or on your iPhone? What kind of iphone are you using? What firmware where you on before? Can you post any screenshots to give us a better idea of whats going on so we can help you?

and where is the spinning wheel??? on your iphone or on itunes? I am going to guess on your iphone.. It is possible that your backup through itunes is corrupt. I have had this happen to me before. You can try to choose a different back up if possible. Also if you are unlocked you can pop contacts off any of your old sim cards through the settings menu on your phone.

You are welcome! Yeah and always save your sim cards from your old cell phones even after your service is canceled. I used to have a razor and to my surprise i had about 200 contacts saved to the sim (i thought they were saved to the phone itself) This saved me so much time by passing the itunes process and i know that the contacts will stay in tact. What apple really needs to do is have an option where you can save your contacts to the sim card
