1.1.1 to 2.1
Hi all wonderful people from the modmyi community.
I have 1.1.1 iPhone 2G and I want to upgrade it to 2.1. I've just downloaded QuickPwn for 2.1. And I wonder what the steps of the procedure. I guess these are the steps, if you have any corrections, please mend my error:
1. Download 1.2 firmware from apple.
(1.5 Should I upgrade to iTunes 8 or can I do this with iTunes 7.7? (which I have))
2. Go to iTunes and upgrade (with Shift+Restore) to that firmware.
(2.5 ? Should I put my phone in DFU or Restore mode for the iTunes upgrade? ?)
3. I get a virginized iPhone (no errors?).
4. Turn on my iPhone.
5. Launch QuickPwn for 2.1 and let it do its' work.
(5.5 How do I unlock my phone? Is it with that BootNeuter? If so, can I instruct QuickPwn to automatically install that and/or unlock my phone, without having to go to Cydia and download that? (coz I don't have WiFi here))
6. And I get a jailbroken and unlocked iPhone!
Please help a noob on this one
Thank you very much,

So, I really have to upgrade to every firmware version in a row so that I can jailbreak and unlock 2.1?

I see. So let me get this straight.
I go to iTunes, click the Upgrade (not restore) button and then wait until iTunes upgraded my iPhone to 1.2. And then I jb + unlock with QuickPwn?
Won't there be any problems with iTunes version 8, or the fact that I upgrade directly from 1.1.1 (which is unlocked and jailbroken) to 1.2?
Thank you very much for your replies

There will not be any problems. Just let itunes update to 2.1 then jailbreak it. No issues at all.

Thank you very much. I just hope you're not an apple spy

One quick question, though: which BL should I use? 3.9 or 4.6? What's the difference?Last edited by muaddib; 09-25-2008 at 12:21 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

If you are a AT&T customer, don't mess with the BL. Keep it default.

No, I am not on AT&T (and most probably, will never be). I just don't know what's the default BL for my phone (2G on 2.1). That's why I am asking.

Don't mean to hijack or whatever but since I already have AT&T this is all I need to install. Itunes v8, quickpwn, and update to 2.1 version? I don't need BL? (Is that bootloader?)
In these steps.
1. install to itunes v8
2. update to 2.1 on iphone
3. run quickpwn
And....thats it?
Thanks for this helpful thread!!!
