mobile installation file - what's it for?
hey guys,
i jailbroke my iphone awhile back and love it.
i'm patiently awaiting winpwn 3.0 to be released so i can upgrade to 2.1
im reading a bunch of posts and many refer to installing a fresh mobile installation file.
what is this step for? i don't recall doing this on the original jailbreak (prolly cause i didn't have to since it wasn't jb-ed to being with)
is there also a step requiring a fresh install on a mobile substrate file too?
thanks!

and it's not a fresh install of the file, it's a cracked version.
It's not a part of the jailbreak process. Lots of people enjoy having what they don't pay for, and this allows them to install cracked app store apps.Last edited by 461am; 09-16-2008 at 11:49 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

I don't think it would be needed then.

Yeah so I forgot to backup mobile installation. Is there an uncracked one anywhere?
Edit: Ok never mind I fixed it.Last edited by BreakTheChains; 09-16-2008 at 07:24 PM.

I don't know since I don't know what's even in it. It was worth asking but I fixed it anyways so it doesn't matter now. Thanks for the response anyways.
Luckily for humanity, I traveled forward to the past and also back into the future.

When you put in the cracked version of the file you're not supposed to overwrite the original one. You're supposed to add ".bak" to the end of the file name and then put in the cracked one. This way yours is still there.
