ok let me get this straight, I'm on iTunes 8 2.0.2 2G JB AT&T
now I opened iTunes and can select the custom FW np, by doing that I'll be on 2.1 and keep everything apps and stuff?

i currently have a 2.1 custom FW for the non AT&T 2G iphone.. created by the 2.1 PWNAGE tool.. and i am currently making an AT&T friendly 1..

aprox. 40 minutes remaining to load on send space..

if you have the firmwares loaded post em!!..

30 minutes remaining.. AT&T FW already made..

is it just me or is the firmware by Grip not working? im talking about the one that's at&t friendly. whenever i hit shift+restore and select the custom firmware i end up getting error(6) then when it is in dfu and restore mode i get error (1600). please help. does anyone else have a different 2.1 custom firmware for 1st gen ATT iphone?

i used grip's non-att fw and it works fine!

I was on 2.0.1 and all i did was
install itunes 8
shift+restore
select cfw

and thats it! I see both cydia and installer on my screen and everything else works fine!

I have manged to downgrade back to 2.0.2. These firmwares are not working for me. I replaced the stock itunes firmware with the cfw, but get error 6. I'll stick with 2.0.2 till quickpwn is released for windows

Grip I cant thank you enough bro!! I was going to try this last night but it looked just "too easy"? I didnt trust it but when I checked today and saw so many posts with different insructions at each one, a shitload of horror stories and still no pc quickpwn I said the hell with it and just used your custom fw, hit shift restore and let it do its thing, I also did not set up as new but from a back-up and retained a lot of my info, contacts,bookmarks etc etc. successful update now running 2.1 and I hate to repeat this again but I know cydia is starting much much faster as well as everything else, so far so good. just got to dl my apps from cydia & installer and I should be good to go!! I still cant believe was this easy!!

Ok Guys just to update I found out a few of my apps were not working though they showed in springboard and even a few of the app store apps were crashing right away so I did this again but set up AS A NEW PHONE so I lost some of my stuff but synced again and just dl again via cydia and all is now working great! I checked them all this time and all but "snapture"?? I cant seem to get that to stop crashing?

restart fresh computer.. first thing KILL ITUNES HELPER!.. connect restored iphone.. restore with custom firmware.. try that!..

I tried the custom firmware for the AT&T, so just jailbroken, and when I try to restore it I get an error that say unknown error occured(6).

anyone have an idea?

After having a huge meltdown - somehow I got corrupted music data and a huge Gbs of other. Decided to upgrade in itunes 8 from Pwnaged 2.02 to 2.1.
2.1 worked but still had huge "other" tried to re sync did not work, build nu firmware with 2.1 but ran into the lovely error 6 and failed DFU.....with connect to iTunes icon.
Was just about to dgrade to Tuneage 7, but decided to gave it one more go, this time Killed Off Mothers little Helper, got the DFU timing down and Boom was in!
2.1 up and running via Pwnage 2.1
All is good.

just tried the firmware and no luck it keeps unactivating my phone

upgraded from 2.0.2 to the non at&t 2.1 and it unactivated my phone so had to downgrade again + quickpwn
