Wrong firmware bundle selected
OK so I have a 1st gen iphone with 1.1.4 firmware on it. I want to upgrade to 2.0.2. I downloaded the latest pwnage software, the correct .bin files and the 2.0.2 .ipsw firmware from the MMI site. I put the .ipsw file into the correct folder. I launched pwnage and turned on expert mode. It can't find the correct .ipsw file so I go looking for it and select it and open it. A few seconds pass and then I get a message saying "wrong firmware bundle selected".
Should the iphone be connected at this stage? What folder should the .bin files be in and does it matter what folder I have pwnage in?
Thanks!

Did you select the right phone...
Left phone is 1ste generation...right is 3G...
Perhaps this is why it is giving you this error...

When you download the ipsw, make sure you are getting the one for the 1st gen iPhone and not the 3g.
It should say iPhone 1,1 and not iPhone 1,2Don't forget the Thanks if I helped

does the latest pwnage tool only look for that firmware version?

Run it in expert mode...
Make sure the iPhone1,1_2.0.2_5C1_Restore.ipsw file is in the pwn-age directory...
Choose 1st gen iphone...(Left picture)
Choose the right firmware...2.0.2 (Bottom tab)
Proceed...accordingly...

Tried all that using iPhone1,1_2.0.2_5C1_Restore.ipsw. Created a new folder on the desktop called pwnage. I placed the 2 .bin files in it along with pwnage tool & iPhone1,1_2.0.2_5C1_Restore.ipsw. Turned on expert mode and browsed for the .ipsw file and same thing happened again.

You sure it's in good condition ?
241 MB (253.589.000 bytes) file size
241 MB (253.591.552 bytes) of disk space
Cheers...

Thats the exact file size and disk space size.
What would happen if I connect the iphone to itunes and upgrade to 2.0.2? Could I then use pwnage to unlock and activate it?

Yes..you can restore (or upgrade) to the legit apple firmware and
jailbreak..subseq.unlock and activate using pwn-age and a custom ispw file...
So you'll need a good original 2.0.2 FW file in any case...
When you restore in iTunes the apple FW file is downloaded somewhere in your apple install folder...or in your 'documents and settings' folder...
Here's a direct apple link to the iPhone1,1_2.0.1_5B108_Restore.ipsw
file... in case you're not able to find it...
http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite....8_Restore.ipsw
Hope this helps...

Edit :
CAUTION !!!!
There is a new 2.1.0 firmware upgrade now...
I don't know whether you can downgrade to a custom 2.0.1 firmware AFTER restoring to 2.1.0
But I could be wrong...Last edited by Wallyİ; 09-10-2008 at 10:06 AM.

i got the same problem and i proceed like this:
- you cant donwload the firware useing SAFARI, try FIREFOX
- after finished double click on the firmware, iTunes will be open
now fallow the turorial, the firmware will be auto-detected by pwnage tool:
