    Default can't turn on

So wanted to pwn my iPhone.
I tried putting it in DFU mode, but the sound that is supposed to come up didn't, and iTunes didn't recognize it.
So I thought it didn't work, but i can't turn my iPhone on now.
    It did turn on before.

Is it perhaps actually in DFU mode? iTunes doesn't recognize it though.

So right now my iPhone basically does NOTHING.

    What can I do now?

    DFU mode.
Phone on. Connected to iTunes. Press both the power button and home at the same time til the screen goes black and blank...let go of the power button and continue pressing down on the home button. A few second laters, iTunes will recognize it...now you can click Shift/Option and restore and go choose your custom firmware and let it runs.

    2nd the DFU mode.

I actually had this happen to me for the very first time on Saturday. I was repwning my old 2G to give to my husband (finally admitted an iphone was cool) and he wanted a different boot logo. Thought it would be piece of cake since I had done this a gazillion times before. Apparently my system froze in the middle of things due to a power glitch (lights in teh house flickerd)leaving the iphone apparently dead.

Initially the iphone didnt want to go into DFU mode (talk about embarassing) but I rebooted the computer and follwed the instructions (the same ones SundayDuffer posted) held my breath and low and behold my phone was recognized in iTunes. The thing is it did not make the sound as it usually does but I watched my hard drive light and saw it flickering so knew I was good. Do not release the home button in the final step until you see the message in iTunes that an iPhone in restore mode has been detected. I will also add to SundayDuffer's instructions that it may very well be more than a "few" seconds. It took mine about 45 seconds to be recognized.

Alls well with the iphone now and works well. It better, its leaving for Europe tonight.

    Good luck!
