Unable to put phone in DFU - Help

I had an unlocked iphone 1.1.4 and the other day (by mistake), when newer itunes (7.7.1) offered for update I clicked yes. Now the phone is updated (no idea which firmware) and locked again.

I have tried million times to put the phone in dfu mode, to use winpwn, but it never works.

Did apple change something in newer itune or firmware? anybody has better idea about dfu?
