Old Blue AT&T help

I have been doing a lot of reading, but I can't find an answer to a specific AT&T question. Many of the guides say "don't check activation or you tube fix" if you are on AT&T. My question is, I am on an OLD (5yr old) AT&T plan through a corporate business account that my company controls. I have no idea if we have a data plan, but I can enter the correct att blue settings and get online with opera mini on my Razr. The magic question is, since this is an account I can't change and would risk my job having a large data bill, should I treat it as a normal unlock/jailbreak and CHECK activate and youtube so I can enter the old mMode settings? Any one else in a smilar situation
