put iphone in dfu mode

put ipsw on desktop

in itunes hold shift key + click restore

search for the custom ipsw and chose it to restore iphone

will go through a series of extractions and verfiyings and then done

when i put iphone in dfu mode the device disappears from itunes so i cant restore it

is this the right way to turn it to dfu mode??

Sorry for messing up the thread, but i keep getting iphone could not be restored an unknown error occurred (1602)

what should i do?

It gets stuck in Preparing iphone for restore msg and then shows an error msg tried 4 times now!!

How do I manually download the update from apple or itunes?

Edit: Nevermind, figured it out. In iTunes click "iTunes/Check for updates" then choose "download only".

One problem may be that from what I gather. You do not have to put it into DFU mode this time. If you had already used a previous version. Yes you had to put into DFU mode. However, this time it told me to put it into RECOVERY MODE.
There is a small difference.

I'm using windows. So if I have a 1st gen pwnd and unlocked 2.0 iphone, then all I need to do is restore in itunes using the custom firmware? Will I then need to unlock it with boot neuter?

tried it with recovery mode and i got the same msg but with error 6!!

the one i uploaded already has boot neuter in it

if you have att youre suppose to click do not activate... both of my uploaded ipsw are done that way

i am no expert and since i dont have 1st gen i have not used the ipsw so all i could do is create it using pwanage 2.0.2
