Activate or not to activate...that is the question

so i just sold both my iphone 2G 8GB models (for US$400 each) out here in HK, and picked up two brand new iphone 3G 8GB models.

In HK, they come with a contract using the carrier "Three", which we signed up with, and they activated before leaving the store. Now I got home, and want to jailbreak these suckas so I can install cydia, themes, and eventually installer.

Question is....all the guides I have read for the jailbreaking of a 3G iPhone talk about one important step: Activation. And they all say the same thing, "if you have an AT&T acount..do this blah blah blah".

Obviously I do not have a AT&T account, and the phones in HK are already unlocked for use with any carrier (im using a PCCW sim card in the device while i wait for my # to be ported to Three).

So really...my question is what guide do I follow?
What options do I select for unlocking and activating?

Please help as I really need a new theme badly (hate the default apple icons).

im in a silmular situtation to you
i have a unlocked 3g from australia
and im worried that if i restore to a custom fw it will also regain the lock
im holding off jail braking untill some one can confirm this
if your close to your phone retailer just do a quick restore to 2.0
and see if it keeps the unlock
if it does then just jail brake as usual but dont choose the option to activate or the you tube fix
