Error 1604 Problem
ok, i used pwned to jailbreak 2.0 (i have the first gen iphone, ATT). Everything went fine but when i put my sim card in, i got no service. So i tried it again, this time it stayed on the boot neuter for like 4 minutes so i just unplugged it. The weird part is, the guide says that it wont go to the boot neuter screen if you choose not to unlock it (which i didnt) Now when i try to turn it on it just goes to the apple and continues to spin. When i tried to restore it keeps giving me a error 1604 problem. I tried multiple times. I reseted the computer. Tried a different computer. Tried a different usb port. what do i do now?

I had the same issue just two days ago.
If you have a PC, try to use ziphone, should work with a mac as well
Then remove itunes 7.7 and use itunes 7.4 or 7.5 to restore.
At that point you should be again ready to give it another go

i am havin a similar problem, i upgraded to 2.0 thru itunes and then used winpwn to create the custom ipsw for 2.0 but i cant get my phone into dfu mode, i tried manually and thru ziphone but it keeps goin into restore mode and i downloaded an earlier version but it gives me some error about since i created my library on a newer version of itunes, itunes cannot open. the funny thing is i put an at&t sim in and i was able to activate it but it still wont go into dfu mode manually or thru ziphone. is the baseband screwed? can anyone shed some light on this? thanks.
i get the same error when i downgraded to an earlier version of itunes and try to restore. i think i am screwed.Last edited by nycdiplomat; 08-03-2008 at 09:32 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

yea, i think i messed up the baseband too. i accidently took out the plug on the baseband screen cause it was taking more then two minutes. it didnt say "do not interupt" so i thought it was ok. Im able to get my phone in dfu but when i try to restore it gives me a 1600 error. i also got a error 6 message. going to try to do the downgrade. like take off itunes etc but i have a feeling it wont work. my phone cant be 100% screwed right?
stupid phone shows the pineapple then goes straight to the steve jobs logo. wtf.
sorry for the double post. getting fustrated. my computer sees it, but the name is "iPhone" and it keeps telling me to restore. But when i do, it gives me the error. wtffffLast edited by ipodlover77; 08-03-2008 at 10:28 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

finnaly succeed to restore the phone
I finnaly succeed to restore my iphone !!
The problem was :
- no-wifi, then no GSM
- impossible to restore (error 1604)
- no spinning logo during the restore with ITunes
I've tried all the solutions described everywhere on google without succeed, but now it's ok.
What you can try :
- the challenge is to have the spinning logo. If you have it and you try to restore the correct version of the software (1.1.1, 1.1.2, 1.1.3, ...) that match the locally installed "Iphone Firmware" before the crash, everything goes well.
To have the spinning logo :
- try with a non fully charged iphone and also with a "cold" iphone. I mean, let your iphone shutdown for several hours before trying to restore.
- Always use the correct software version that match your firmware, if not you will have error 1012, 1011 during the ITunes firmware restore.
If you have not the spinning logo, it's always error 1604 or 1603. I did the restore with ITunes 7.5 but I'm not sure it's needed.
Hope it will help someone.

I solved the error messages like this:
I hope I can help people with that one here:
I got sometimes several Error Messages, but I solved it that way:
- upgrade official on iTunes to the newest version
- use QuickPwn
an afterwards upgrade with a custom firmware you did with Pwnage Tool
and you won't get any error messages, everything is working fine!
If questions, feel free to contact me!
