3g wont go in to dfu for pwnage
I have ben trying to put my iphone 3g into dfu mode using pwnage for the last 30 min. I have got the thing memorized so i know i am doing it exactly in sync with pwnage.... hah.. I was wondering if there is any other way to put it into dfu mode. or if anyone else know what i might be doing wrong with pwnage...

Having the same problem here. Following the instructions on pwnage 2.0.1, it said I have successfully entered DFU mode, but iTunes cannot read my iphone, or should say it is trying to read it as an iPod and cannot be correctly identified.
anyone?

connect iphone to pc
startup iTunes
startup Ziphone
under Advanced Settings in Ziphone, click "DFU Mode"
there are also options for "Restore Mode" and "Normal Mode"
once you are in DFU mode, simply close Ziphone
go ahead and restore using iTunes
worked for me just an hour ago !!!!

Which version of Ziphone are you using? or it doesnt matter? Can this be done on a Mac rather than a PC? I dont have windows on my MBP now.
Thanks
Thanks for the video. Tried it but still not working, iTunes is still reading my iPhone as an iPod. Thanks for sharing anyway.

Thanks. I have 3.0 as well for the Mac but it doesn't have the DFU modes and stuff. Guess I have to go find a windows machine. I'll try it out and see.
Evan
Used Ziphone 3.0 in XP to get iPhone into DFU mode, but could not restore custom firmware onto my iPhone, kept getting error 6. Anyone know why?
Thanks everyone for all your help. Finally got it done. Read on some other thread that I should try other USB ports and it worked.Last edited by evan_ad2000; 07-24-2008 at 02:07 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Im having the same problem all over agin...

pwnage tool keeps telling me i have put my iphone into dfu mode but my phone is still off and it does not show up in itunes. I have restored about 6 times no luck with anything... Im restoring agin becaus i managed to get it into resotre mode( thought that was dfu?) so it wont boot up. But when i try to install a custom firmware it gives me an error(21)
Any ideas?Last edited by ltjbigshot; 04-02-2009 at 09:59 PM.
