if your stuck in DFU mode have no fear. Your phone is fine. Just try to restore to cosmos new firmware or google ibrickr which is an application that can kick you out of DFU mode.
The mkdir thing is actually a command for mac users. All it means though is to make the folders and things as shown.
edit: everyone who has been having problems and questions please re read the guide i edited it and it should clear things up. Also download cosmos new fw that i replaced with the old one. It solves most problems. Also i posted in the guide a way to avoid the 1600 error is after you pwned your phone dont put it into DFU just try to do a normal shift click restore.
edit2: if still having problems check out the guide i linked at the bottomLast edited by Panth383; 07-20-2008 at 06:57 PM.

I didnt have the problem where i needed to make this but im pretty sure. Check my music or where your music files are and there should be an itunes folder in that. In that folder make the device support folder
edit: sry cosmo i posted this like 2 seconds after you didnt even notice

Using ZiPhone (ZiPhone Download Server - IPhone and IPod Touch Software) for the sole purpose of getting into Recovery mode ( see the Advance settings) should help rather than trying to get the 10 second down right for DFU mode.

I got mine installed, nearly flawlessly. already had the phone winpwned, and followed the tutorial... the only hitch was i got error 1601, but tried the firmware install with out putting the phone in dfu mode... perfect!
thanks allot for the write up I thought win users was gonna have to wait even longer...Never underestimate the determination of a kid who is time rich and cash poor. (Little Brother by Cory Doctorow)

finally got mine to update! hooray!
i got out of dfu mode by restarting my computing, and plugging in the usb. my phone booted up.
i then took the safe route and WinPwned my 1.1.4. after pwnage. i again, took the safe route and restored to the new custom 2.0 fw without entering dfu mode.
everything is working, jailbroked, activated and unlocked. for some reason, the locate me function in Maps doesn't work. and as stated before, the "Show My CallerID" is grayed out for some reason. I'm on T-Mobile and it worked when i was on the older fw.
anyway, a big thanks to Cosmo and Panth! amazing work.
i'll be happy to try to assist anyone with upgrading.1st Gen iPhone 2.0 - Jailbroken and Unlocked on T-Mobile

Hello CosmoLV, I have a question for you. Is this new Unactivated FW also Unlocked? I am a legit ATT user and dont want/need to unlock. If its not, great, but if it does unlock, can you come up with an unlocked version of a jailbroken FW2.0? By the way, You're Awesome!! Thanks in advance!
*edit** I meant a version of 2.0 without the unlock. Only JB. It was super llate last night.Last edited by diggie2002; 07-21-2008 at 07:53 AM. Reason: mistake

I have one question about Cydia, under the "Manage" tab, there are about 30 to 40 applications that is already installed with the custom 2.0.isp firmware I downloaded. Is that a default with Cydia or did the user that build the custom firmware installed a bunch of extras on there that I don't need?
Example of some of the apps already installed on Cydia:
APT
ARM Floating Point
Automatic SSH
Base Structure
bzip2
Diff utilities
etc.........
Do the rest of you guys have all this stuff already installed on your Cydia?
