I was just thinking something similar and about to post:

I have a iPhone Unlocked running 1.1.4 at the moment. Not PWNED.

If I now Pwn it using WinPWN does this mean I can get a 2.0 firmware from a friend, or create one using a Hackintosh VM, and then using iTunes 7.7 on Windows restore this firmware to the iPhone?

This seems like a reasonable substitute to WinPwn in the mean time...

Yea im thinking having a friend PWn his on mac,

taking the .ipsw file

upload it somewhere

and i download it

then restore ipod basic

DFU, select the .ipsw

and BAMM...

Yea, thats exactly what I was thinking. Only trick is that you have to have been PWNED in the past, and I haven't... Yet

I'm not sure I wanna go messing with this just yet. I get a bit anxious when my phone is down :-s
