Got a g3 iBook, what to do with it?
Hello guys just got an Apple iBook G3, specs are the following:
PowerPC G3 500MHZ
640MB RAM
40GB HDD
I want to format it, what OS X do you recommend for it? it actually has 10.3.9 I wonder if I can put Leopard or a recent version of Tiger.

I'm pretty sure you won't be able to because of hardware specs and stuff, here's what Apple says: Snow Leopard requires you have an Intel Processor, so any of the iBooks, Powerbooks, Powermac, and early iMacs can't be upgraded to Snow Leopard.
Depending on which model of the iBook G3 you have, you can go up to 10.4.11 or 10.5.8. You might want to look into investing in a new Macbook which comes with Snow Leopard pre-installed. They will allow you to have Apple Support on your product, a wide variety of new accessories, plus an overall faster computer with the latest technology.

The old iBooks are still decent items to play with. Of course not meant for heavy stuff or some modern things. But as internet machine it does ok.
My first mac was an iBook.

Yes, I know, I do have a new MBP and MBW, but suddenly I got this G3 and wanted to play with it, so I figured out it has Panther installed, I'll try Tiger and see how it works!
