Hi, i have A IPHONE 3GS and the baseband is corrupted.
Could i replace it with this?

yeah, iv downgraded to 4.1 too but that didnt work, the wifi bluetooth and airplane mode was greyed out

You can fix your baseband by restoring to 5.1. I am assuming you have one of the newer 8gb model 3GS. Do you know what carrier it is locked to?

I have tried restoring to 5.1 and it is locked to orange uk

i did have errors in restoring but i got it working after messing around with the host file, but when i booted into 5.1 the phone did not activate because the phone kept searching for signal (with or Without sim)

It got the 3984 error or something like that but that's was because of the host file set wrong.

Ya that's hosts file error. Did you get any baseband related error once you fixed your hosts?

Oh yh it also got a -1 error i don't know if that's a baseband error

Ya, it is. Baseband is definitely corrupt. Doing what I said before wont help either since I thought it was a 8gb then. Not an easy fix. I think it can be fixed if you manually flash the baseband chip but that is a pretty difficult thing to do I think.

iv found a local shop that will replace the baseband chip but will this work?

+1. Just do some research and make sure it isn't a scam site. I know baseband chip replacement is doable, I just haven't really seen too many people have it done.
