    It looks like the right part but installing that will be very difficult. Soldering required I would think.

    Thanks, a local shop said they will fit it for a small charge so worth doing im thinking.

    Did you try it? I have the same problem in my 3GS, if you try that solution please tell us the result here

    I have an iPhone 3gs 8gb and i've tried everything in fixing it and i have the very same problem and i get error -1 on itunes and i have no idea what to do can anyone help me and instruct me what to do to make my chip work.

    Is iTunes updated to the newest version? And have ya tryed a different USB port?

    hes my itunes is updated and i've tried all the ports and different pc but still the same error

    What are you trying to do update it?
    Almost sounds like its in recovery mode

    The part should be an Infineon X-Gold 608 Baseband processor for the 3GS. I used to own a 3GS 2009 model and I remember the technical spec for this device.

    This article should help more with some technical details of the chip.

    I do remember when disassembling this phone that the chip isn't in the slightest bit easy to replace! Some care is needed removing the solder from the chip as its pins are close together.

    It can be rewritten with BBUpdaterExtreme, but this requires a great deal of care with a jailbroken iOS running with mobile terminal or SSH access. You must use the correct EEP/FLS files otherwise it will brick the processor chip.
