Greenpois0n keeps saying "Waiting for DFU"
Although I know phone is going into DFU (just went into DFU to check which baseband phone was and it showed)
I'm sure the GreenpoisOn zip files loaded on right file on desktop.
Any ideas?

Restore it and try limera1n?
Is the screen completely black when you are in DFU?

Are you putting it in DFU before it asks you to do it, or when it asks you to do it?
I'd say use limera1n if GP keeps failing to recognize it in DFU.

Hm. So when you go into DFU, in iTunes does it pick up your device and tell you to restore? B/c if iTunes recognizes it in DFU, then it isn't your phone. I'd like to know that, if you don't mind testing it out. I know you said you did it to check the bootrom, but I think iTunes is a surefire way to tell if it really is going into DFU.
It's not in recovery mode right? Just wanna make sure.

"You're holding it wrong" when putting it in dfu mode. I haven't had an issue with limera1n on any of the 10 devices I have used it on. It is either user error or usb port issues.

How do you mean test it in itunes?
And thx for the reply.
I've never had an issue before, been doing this for years too.
Either I've lost my touch or the 3GS has got something different thats throwing it off.
And BTW this is a 3GS (4.1/old baseband) that's never been JB before.
Thx for the reply.Last edited by Jeffwo; 11-19-2010 at 03:00 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Plug phone into computer, load iTunes, iTunes will then indicate the phones current status as stated above.

If you want it easy go get Recboot which will push it into or out of DFU/Recovery Mode or go get TinyUmbrella
Both programs are free
Please thank me on site if this works or keep talking

Recboot will not help, it can only boot in and out of recovery, not dfu. Try redsn0w 0.9.6b2 or sn0wbreeze.

OK Redsn0w 0.9.6b2 gets to "waiting for reboot" screen and goes no further....leaves phone in DFU mode.

You may want to give it a go on another computer if you have access to one.
