Jailbreak for 3.1.3 for at &T users?
Hi, i've read for weeks about 3.1.3 being permanently locked until dev teams get the new code they are sitting on ready for the ipad and iphone 4, but i've also read 99% of the jailbreak questions and they seem to be for t-mobile or other carriers. I do want to jailbreak my phone for usage but not with another carrier. I want to keep at&t as my carrier but have access to cydia for mywi (I can't tell you how much life sucks since i've lost this app).
Is there a way to no have to change the baseband since i'm staying on the original carrier and get cydia access?
My iphone 3gs
model mc135LL
modem 05.12.01

I'm on AT&T as well. Jailbreak is our only concern. The thing is, at the moment, there is no way to jailbreak these phones. I still feel pretty fortunate that I AM with AT&T as I can still use my phone! As far as the baseband, seeing as you're ON AT&T, it's not something to worry about. The only time you need to worry about baseband is if you need to unlock, which you don't. The things to be concerned about with JAILBREAKing is Firmware and/or Bootrom. Hope this answers your question(s).

It would just be nice to have something that would enable cydia for us at&t folks..all I really want is tethering...nothing else. I've been hounding at&t about this feature since the first week I bought this phone. I only bought it so I could tether...at this point I wish my iphone was a blackberry as awful as that sounds but then i'd at least have a phone living up to its capabilities. You'd think we were asking at&t for a percent of their profits by asking for the ability to tether.

I don't see them releasing a tethering plan until their network is fully upgraded to 7.2 Mb to handle the increased traffic. If they did it now all the people complaining about not having tethering would be complaining about the network being slow or timing out due to way too much traffic.

Let's be open and frank here..how many hundreds of thousands of jailbroken phones maybe more are all ready tethering on the network? I tried mywi and the other pdanet and every always seemed stable..I know there's a big worry about how it'll affect the sale of their network cards and them losing relationships and new products over it.

OK... now take the "hundreds of thousand" of jailbroken iPhones in the US... only a tiny percentage of those uses tethering... and only a tiny percentage of those is actually tethering at the same time. Now... take the MILLIONS of iPhones in the US and give them ALL the opportunity to tether and watch the network come to a halt in a big city like NY or LA.

Considering I live in one of the two cities you just mentioned I can tell you that I don't have a starbucks more than 6 blocks in any direction in any point in nyc and wifi isn't that uncommon here anyway.. the problem is using that wifi on lets say a device that doesn't have a built in card that's the problem for man which tethering would fix.I can also guarantee you that not everyone of those millions of customers is going to sign up to pay for tethering so we can bring your number of millions in caps down to a million or so adapters which would certainly pay for any future upgrade the system needs. S
For the sake of it, I understand your points but i'm just speaking on my own frustrations and not looking to get defensive about it. I'm just annoyed as a consumer that was promised something when I bought the phone and nearly $600 later of phone bills still haven't gotten the promise fullfilled.Last edited by thekiddo; 03-17-2010 at 01:09 PM. I agree with your position also... even in a small market 3G city such as Austin I still find my iPhone timing out when on safari... dropping the signal.. and defaulting back to Edge. There were numerous reports about how much fail the AT&T network has had in big markets (mainly NY). AT&T is playing it safe and rather than offering up a service which might cause a severe customer backlash due to lack of performance they are taking heat for not offering it at all until they can give a good customer experience.

There is no jail break for 3.1.3 currently. The ONLY way u can have 3.1.3 jailbroken is by having a custom 3.1.3 installed....I currently an ATT customer jailbroken on 3.1.3 BUT i also still have the older baseband of 04.26.08. So my phone is still unlockable IF for some reason i ever needed to do that LoL. I have went from 3.0, 3.1, 3.1.2, and 3.1.3 without any problems.

So far I have tried SnowBreeze and Redsnow and both of those did not work.... Snowbreeze was looking like it was going to work but it threw a error code. I did notice that Snow breeze said that it will not work with a MC model.
oh well maybe some time soon it will work....Sucks going from a Jailbroke Iphone to a reg Iphone.....

Yes. Custom firmware is always jailbroken or jail breakable. U have to be on the old bootrom or else ur 3GS will not accept custom firmware. As long as u have the old bootrom and know a thing or two about custom firmware, then u shouldnt have a problem. I have a 3GS (old bootrom), running 3.1.3 on the old 04.26.08 baseband. And im currently an ATT customer.
