iPod tOuch 2g 3.1.2 blackra1n problems

I've been having troubles jailbreaking a friends 2g ipod touch running 3.1.2. I have both a mac and pc both wouldnt jailbreak it using DFU mode and shift+restore method. redsnow doesnt support this firmware. so now i went to blackra1n which work sort of but now anytime it has to reboot it comes back with the connect to itunes screen. any help would be awesome been trying for about six hours now different methods and searching forums for help and havent found anything that helps me.

I'm going to guess that you have the new bootrom. Search the forum for 'tethered jailbreak.' The new bootrom means you have tethered jailbreak. Basically Apple made a change that closed the exploit that jailbreakers used to use for jailbreaking.

You can still jailbreak though. The difference is that each time you turn off your touch, you have to run blackrain again. The first time you jailbreak you have to run it twice.

does itunes need to be on 'puter in order for blackra1n to work properly?

works fine on home box , but it crashes here at work.
only diffrence is that there is no itunes on work box(management wont let us install)

seems i gonna be carrying a brick in my pocket till i get home tonite!
