3g update to 3,1,2....what am i doing wrong?

hi guys, im new to this forum so please take it steady

today i decided to update my previously jailbroken phone to 3.1.2.
itunes was updated and the phone backed up. i downloaded 3.1.2 and installed ok.
however when i run blackrain on my vista pc i get a pic of a white cable going to a cd on the screeen and a message in itunes stating 'itunes has detected an iphone in recovery mode you must restore this phone before it can be used in itunes'

what do i do now blackrain hasnt finished either?

Unlocking the sim as well ? if so uh oh, I hope it was a 3.1.2 custom firmware ? what did u use ?

no sim staying the same (o2) i downloaded via itunes

Ok i dont know to much about the phone service in the uk .but most iphones are att , unless there unlocked.I may be wrong on that though but i think thats one of the issues.If they service does come with it for that service and u know it works try to change the blackrain compatibility to winxpsv2,run as a admin.
