cant jailbreak 3gs 3.1.2 using blackra1n

having an issue jailbreaking a 3gs 32gb with 3.1.2 fm.
ive restored to the original settings but when i run blackrain, it gets stuck at entering recover mode. i let it sit for about 5min but with no success. after exiting blackra1n, the iphone is stuck in recovery mode and only resumes operating after i do a restore. is 5min not sufficient?

what am i doing wrong? just bought the phone today and havent had issues jailbreaking an itouch w/ blackra1n and 3gs with redsnow.

please help.

ps. im also using windows vista but have specified to open blackra1n w/ windows xp sp2 compatability and admin.

I would advise you to find a friend with windows xp. and try again. also if you bought the Iphone today. the Jailbreak will be tethered, do you know what that means? every time you need to reboot the Iphone you will have to use a pc and blackra1n to start it. sometimes when you download an app from cydia or IPA store it requires a reboot. and every time you will need a PC to boot the phone every Iphone since mid October needs to be tethered for a jailbreak to work.

i will try another computer today and hopefully it works. i do know the tether requirement as the touch i jailbroke was also 3.1.2 but done on a xp machine. anyone else have issues trying a jailbreak on vista? from what im reading all that needs to be done is change properties as i mentioned above to get around vista issues.

Just put blackra1n.exe into Windows XP compabillity mode and you should be fine.

thats exactly what i did. tried launching blackra1n as admin and compatability w/ xp. still the same results. i dont know if this has something to do w/ the phone being so new as i just got it yesterday? the steps are simple enough to follow so what can it be?

You have a tethered jailbreak....

Did you run blackra1n twice in a row. Your jail break is probably been succesful but to boot the phone you have use blackrain to do it (teatherd)

basically the furthest i got was "entering recover mode" w/ the pic of the usb cable and itunes cd. it just sat there w/ out completing so i dont think it ever completed jailbreaking. at that point, only solution is to restore.

When you get to the pic with the cable and iTunes, run blackra1n again...

I've tried closing out blackra1n then rerunning but I get the same result. I've restored several time with each producing the same result after running blackrain. How long does it typically take for the jailbreak to complete? Ive let it sit for 5min but got no response from blackrain

have you tried with Itunes open. or closed. I do not know how to help you sorry.

I read somewhere to stop the process "itunes helper" first... Did u try that?

Basically, move blackra1n directly to your C drive, end all apple or itunes processes and run blackra1n (RC 3) as administrator and in xp compability mode. if that doesn't work try what the guy in the first video does.

make sure your computer has intel that is y i coodnt jb with blackra1n i did it on my uncles puter who has intel and it worked
