StreetPunkJon,
Once the "itunes logo with the white arrow and the USB connection port" (this is DFU mode) comes up and while it is still plugged in to the USB port of your computer then try running the blackra1n again.
First make sure you kill any itunes services running like mydnsresponder, itunes helper, etc....
Not sure if it will work, but seems logical.
Post back your results please.
***update** looks like I was wrong on my previous post. There is DFU and then there is recovery mode "itunes logo with the white arrow and the USB connection port" the difference is iboot is not loaded in DFU mode but is loaded in the recovery mode.Last edited by andyharp; 01-02-2010 at 08:20 PM.

For those that have the problem AFTER a successful jailbreak(ra1n, rebooted, installed Cydia, and may be unlocked) then use Cydia to get install more apps and get stuck after reboot(Blackra1n won't boot it - no matter how many time you re-run it):
I had that problem and I think there is some apps that is messing with the iTunes library or something that prevent it from reboot, sending it to recovery mode and force you to restore the iPhone.
So, I did let iTunes restore my iPhone to NEW phone. Do the jailbreak again(no, I'm not giving up just because of that).
This time though, I did not install the Suspected apps, "OpenSSH".
1. It was the last one I installed on the First jailbreak.
2. I noticed that when you install **********, it look like it already install OpenSSh
Now, I have rebooted my phone 2-3 times after this 2nd jailbreak, no problem. Blackra1n would reboot it back the way it should.
I'm thinking OpenSSH + some app(s) are a disaster combination. OpenSSH alone shouldn't be a problem.
So, for those that have the same problem, restore, redo jailbreak, and try installing apps one at a time. After, each apps, try to reboot, rerun Blackra1n to boot you phone back. If that app don't cause the problem, it will reboot fine.
My phone - 3GS week 50 - just got it 2 days ago.

Does ********** = blackra1n in your post? Blackra1n does not install openssh. That was one of the nice things is you are not vulnerable to the ssh hacks with the alpine password.
Yes ryantcb. I got the ecid , but the purple rain site does not generate a file. What should I do now to get what I need.Last edited by andyharp; 01-18-2010 at 06:06 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

No, ******* was not blackra1n, some how the forum block the word "I n s t a l l o u s"
Turns out I was mistaken. It(I n s t a l l o u s) did not install OpenSSh.
I'm still convince that OpenSSH together with some other app might have cause the problem.
So, far I have not re-installed OpenSSh and just rebooted my iPhone again today(some app make me do it), make it ra1n again, no problem.
I'm using Vista, and was using this same computer all this time, in case you're wondering.

Thanks ryantcb. I did see my bootrom is 359.3 and I have MC also.
What do I do with the ecid number. The purplera1n thing to generate a file is not working anymore. Not sure what I should do with this ecid number? Do I even need to worry about it anymore?
