Friends 3GS wont boot after restart with Blackra1n

So my buddy jailbroke his phone using BR. I was installing some stuff for him and had to reboot. So i shut the phone off and turn it back on.

The Apple logo showed up for 15-20 seconds and then disappeared. hitting the home button does nothing. I can press and hold the power button and the logo will come back,then go away after 15-20 seconds?

Any Ideas

put it into DFU mode and restore the firmware and rejailbreak and unlock

you have to run blackra1n everytime you restart the iphone. when the restore screen shows up, plug into mac, open blackra1n, click button, once message pops up saying "all good", unplug phone, wait for home screen to appear. this is called tethered unlock, due to new firmware on iphone.

heres where im at now.

as the phone sits, if i open blackrain, hit make it rain, it gives the waiting for device message.

i then can hold the home button down and plug the phone in to the usb, i get the itunes screen, then geohots pic. blackrain will say its good and wait for the reboot.

geohot picture stays around for 101-5 seconds and goes black.

it doesn't look like the phone is off. you can see a difference in the color of the pixels around the border like the phone is on, just showing a black screen

i jailbroken 3GS using blackra1. but it won't reboot, showing the logo of iTunes on screen. when i connect to the iTunes it showing error msg: iphone is in recovery mode. restore your iPhone. i done it for couple of times. still same problem. i run the blackra1 couple of times. still same problem mate..

well after countless atempts i ended up just restoring his iphone and doing the black rain from fresh.

everything went fine installed cydia and terminal. now i just need to get iphone explorer working since i can't ssh into his phone with this hotels internet.

weird part is, i restarted after installing terminal, and it booted right up. didn't have to run black rain again, but could still run cydia and install stuff thru it.

hopefully breaking with a fresh phone will alleviate the headaches from last time since he just ran it on his phone with starting from fresh
