Default Blcksn0w: Is it now ok to upgrade 3g unlockes phone to 3.1.2?

    Hi all,

I just saw that there is a new version of blackra1n with blacksn0w unlock.

Does this mean that it is now safe for me to upgrade my iphone which is currently jailbroken on 3.0 with a 4.26.08 baseband?

If yes, should I just to a regular upgrade through itunes to 3.1.2 (moving to baseband 5.11), then use blackra1n to jailbreak and blacksn0w to unlock?

Will I still lose all my settings, apps, jailbroken apps in the process?

    Thanks,
    Jord.

Yes...its safe to upgrade officially thru iTunes to 3.1.2 and then use the new blackra1n RC3 to jailbreak and install Blacksn0w. However if you purchased your iphone brand new in the last 2 weeks or so you may have the new iBoot rom which Apple implemented to make things harder and inconvenient in terms of jailbreaking. Just google "tethered jailbreak" to see what I am referring to.

In regards to loss of settings and content....you can always do a back up first then do the restore to update the FW in itunes however I know some people have issues with things when after updating FW they do a "restore from backup" to get their settings, contacts and content...it just depends.

    Hey thanks for the details!
I've had my iphone for over a year now. So no iboot rom that I know of.
I'll let you know how things work out.
