I used it on my 3GS also and didn't have any issues. Maybe it took 30 seconds. There are a couple things you have to do after to get the full jailbreak, but in my eyes, it's well worth it!

Waste of time seems like an overstatement. It's a 30sec process and if it doesn't work you're not out of a lot of time. I know someone that used it and was happy with it, I myself haven't because I'm with T-Mobile and the method updates the baseband.

Lovely

Actually, on first or second try, several days ago, it "worked", but too many Cydia apps (SBSettings, etc.) didn't work, defeating the purpose, so I started over fresh... ever since then, well, I've tried every troubleshooting step I can get my hands on, each one more irritating than the previous (like wait for 10 seconds, then wait for 9 seconds, then kill this process, then kill that process, then, then...) No thanks.

I tried disabling bonjour... same result... Oh well, at least recovery and restore actually IS fairly quick. (Please don't get me wrong, I'm elated for all of those lucky ones who got this to work in 30 seconds...)

Jailbreak simple and easy, no probs on a 3gs previously JB on 3.0...(I have no interest in unlocking)...my problem came when using the rock app to restore my 3rdparty apps, it appeared to install them but, even after a full reboot, they had disappered off my springboard and cydia too. I could only find them via the search, I tried reinstallIng some things and changing different settings to no avail, in the end I done a full restore then re-JB then installed all my 3rdparty apps etc one at a time.

Never give up, now trying 2.0, and it does get alot further than 1.0 (all the way to Running...), but I never see the Geo screen and I have to reboot the phone on my own, 2.0 then tells me I'm JB'd and to wait for a reboot, which I then have to do, somewhat happily, it boots to the phone, but no JB. I've tried troubleshooting steps from 1.0 (holding down buttons, stopping processes and services, running as Admin, yada, yada), but no luck...

i think blackra1n worked for most of the iphone users - but obviously the program is flawed since so many people are having problems
in my opinion geohot should have looked into the issues people had/having and then release a new version if a fix could be found - but instead i have not seen any support come from him and yet he still has time to release the mac version without even looking into troubleshooting the errors the pc version of the software is presenting
just my .02

Persistence pays off: with 2.0, exit all services/processes mentioned in other posts, in airplane mode iphone on (w/fresh 3.12 install), run JB2.0 as Admin (Vista here), it runs but iphone gets stuck at USB/Itunes screen (never see Geo screen), manual iphone shutdown, power back on and force into recovery mode, re-run JB 2.0, and... YES!
Thanks Geo.

Bottom line, he was just wanting to vent, but went about it very poorly. The progy works... just gotta be patient with it. It takes a try or two. I've experienced several situations where this works or this doesn't work, and then flush the phone, try again, and they do, but something ELSE doesn't. Not everything is 100% with it yet, which I doubt Geo every claimed it to be.
On a higher note, the v2 I've had more success with regarding programs, however a lower "successful install" ratio.
Bottom line, they're trying, and your flame was uncalled for and didn't help the cause in the least. Give them some time to work on it, and more importantly, give them the credit for what they HAVE done already.
Blackra1n isn't a waste of time... You joining the community within the last 2 weeks and feel you have a voice to flame, however...

On a side note, I'm AM glad you got it to work.Last edited by vsellers; 10-16-2009 at 04:09 PM.

All I know is that I ran Blackra1n on (2) 3GS' and (1) 3G, all of them took a total of maybe 1 minute to run and install Cydia and Rock, restored all my programs in another 3 minutes, rebooted the phones and everything works perfectly.
