UPDATE FIRMWARE without LOOSING DATA

How can i update my firmware 2.1 to 2.2, then jailbreak it without losing my applications and everything in the phone? I'm using windows. Thanks

Every time when you update your phone you loose your apps.So you can backup all your data&app store apps to itunes.Also use AptBackup to backup your cydia app...

i have a 3g iphone that i had jailbroken but it got messed up so i had to reinstall the firm ware and now i cant jail brake it,or even reintall the old version that i had before.now i have firm 2.2.1(5h11) i have tryed to reinstall 2.2(5g77) but i keep gettin an error from itunes,is there a way to do it,i have tryed everithing that apple tell you to do,but no luck.i want to get cydia back,please help!
