[help] no firware version, unknown baseband and ibrickr endless loop

hi

i have a US iphone (cos it has some AT&T stuff left inside) that's already unlocked with firmware 1.0.2 and i can't remember the modem version.

i upgraded the firmware to 1.1.1 using itunes 7.6 (without any re-virginizer) and jailbroke using jailbreakme.com TIF exploit. but it's still simlocked so I tried anySim 1.2 and it said can't unlock. So i guess it's because the baseband version is wrong for anySim to work. I tried downgrading the baseband using iphone.unlock.no and it threw some error. From then onwards things just went downhill.

what works

• upgrade/downgrade to 1.0.0, 1.0.1, 1.0.2, 1.1.0, 1.1.1 and 1.1.2 (haven't tried 1.1.3 as a bit scared)
• run ibrickr to boot the phone out of recovery mode into the Slider with Emergency

what doesn't work

• Running AppTapInstaller.exe with itunes on will eventually get to the "send to iphone failed" msg
• Running AppTapInstaller.exe with itunes off will get it stuck at stage 0 4 Trying to boot in to recovery mode and won't continue
• slide to emergency dialpad, pushing the numbers will have a few second delay before it appears
• sometimes dialpad will be unresponsive and switch to the Slider screen

I've spent almost the entire weekend trying to de-brick the phone to no avail and came across this site with some incredible links. but they didn't work.

What should I do now? is it true that I need to REVIRGINIZE the baseband? because i have no wifi, so can't use the iphone.unlock.no now. How do I do that without wifi?

After trying all sorts of things that didn't work at one place or another, I decided to take the plunge and upgrade the firmware to 1.1.3 and here is an update

• iphone is first upgraded to 1.1.3 using itunes 7.6
• downgrade firmware to 1.1.1 from dfu
• jailbreak using tiff exploit via jailbreakme.com

now, the phone is jailbroken but not unlocked. i tried to install BSD system 1.5 and it kept saying 'package download failed'. without that, i couldn't downgrade the baseband. i'll keep trying that but 1 question

can I just buy a stealthsim and use it to (pseudo)simunlock?

yes, i installed baseband downgrade (doesn't work without BSD installed) from using i.unlock.no source and a few other tools. BSD Subsystem 1.5 (says 6.6MB) just won't budge.

come to think of it, unbricking using 1.1.3 will upgrade the baseband to 4.3.13. and with a bootloader 4.6, unless i succeed in installing BSD and doing a baseband downgrade, even stealthsim/china3gpp won't work. am i right?
