Hey guys, has anybody tried this procedure from OTB 1.1.1 phone without Wifi:

- Downgrade to 1.0.2 and Activate with Independence
- Upgrade / jaibreak / installer with iFuntastic
- Finally unlock with AnySim

I will receive my iPhone next week, won't have access to Wifi right away so I would greatly appreciate your thoughts on that (I'm not in the US)

Thanks for taking the time to reply,but my "issue" is to unlock without Wifi (later on I'll have wifi). I know that is not a very common situation, but can be interesting to know anyway?
Can I do it with iNdependence by connecting iPhone to MacBook using an ad-hoc connection? Or do I need a wireless router and access to internet to jailbreak?

Have you been able to get around this problem?

My wifi is completely useless. It won't even bring up a list of access points for me to select. I've tried to get wifi working using multiple routers and router configurations, but no luck. The iphone just keeps searching, gets ridiculously warm and eats up all the battery life.

I just restored my iphone: firmware 1.1.1 (04.01.13_G) to try to fix my wifi and get it running. Restore went well, but I'm now trying to unlock the phone (using "unlock.no" method) and I can't get past the activation, because I can't connect wifi.

So I'm in a similar situation. I'd like to unlock my iphone but wifi is no longer an option.

Any help would be great. Thank you in advance!

Yes I got it to work without wifi nor internet access (well I had previously downloaded 1.0.2 and 1.1.1 FW).
What I did with my mac was roughly:
- downgrade to 1.0.2 using iNdependence (DFU mode)
- upgrade and "unshackle" through iFuntastic
- install anySim with iFuntastic (just copy to /Applications)
- Done!
You can then install installer with the same method

your way works, but an easier way would be to downgrade to 1.0.2 with iNdependance, and then click on the Install anySim FROM iNdependence

but yea, that way works too

Does this method also unlock the iPhone to be used with any sim card? That easy?

yes, as long as you properly install and run anysim on 1.1.1
