gprs questions..

hi,
i know that edge is a better version of gprs....but can my iphone browse the internet using gprs...cause the service provider i use(india-airtel) gives only gprs.....can i browse the net using gprs..if yes...tell me how to set it up on my iphone!!

You might need to call your service provider and ask them about the APN; Username and password for DATA PLAN
Once you have them you would need to go to
Settings >> Network >> EDGE >> and enter the above info.
Then you will be able to surf the net via GPRS.

P.S. This can be a costly affair, so check out the data plan and subscribe to an appropriate plan.

EDGE is GPRS, they are the same thing.

only APN info is enough to connect to GPRS?

i am using office mobile unlimited from airtel (it's gprs but yea i think edge is also the same only faster i guess) and the settings are as follows:

Step 1
settings>general>network>EDGE
APN: airtelgprs.com
Username: Leave Blank
Password: Leave Blank

Step 2
settings>general>network>VPN>SETTINGS
Tap PPTP
Server: airtelgprs.com
Account: 202.056.231.117
Password: Leave as is
Encryption: Leave as is
Proxy: Leave in OFF state
in fact nothing else to do in this section

That's it, then i waited for the airtel people to activate it..
so the settings won't help unless you call em n ask for the activation..

But it's not fast enough, so thinking of upgrading to their edge offer sometime..

Hey,

Ive tried to enable gprs settings on my iphone 3gs jailbroken and unlocked 3.1.4 version.

i do not have the cellular network tab in my settings > general > network

ive tried changing my gprs settings using Http://unlockit.co.nz

this doesnt seem to work either...

any advice??

Build a carrier bundle for apn, why all this hard work?
Use this for generating the ipcc file (you can make a custom logo btw) and than load it to your phone via itunes.
