iPhone 3GS 32gb from japan in softbank.

Hi was given a iPhone 3GS from a friend that travels back to japan throughout the year. It came with no sim since he is using it on his phone from japan. I upgraded to latest update from apple and now iTunes telling me my some is not supported. Can I jailbreak and unlock it to be used with my att sim card? Also if possible please list what programs I need to use. He never jailbroke it so no luck on saved ssh. Thanks in advanced.

Depends on your firmware and baseband if ya dont know your baseband or are not able to checl a program called fuzzyband will tell you
