I cannot believe the problems that rogers is having with iphone 4 release......They have no clue when or where they phones are coming from.....Not sure if other carriers are having this problem but...They have waiting list but no phones. They are getting like 5 phone for a store then nothing for a few days then 2 phones...then some store's say nothing until september.

This is not Rogers fault.
They would like nothing less then to sell as many iPhones as possible.
This is Apples problem, since the production of the iPhone 4 is very slow.

I agree that it is very hard for a Canadian to get an iPhone right now. I was told from several Rogers stores that they receive 3, maybe 4 iPhones at a time, and that the employees have no idea when the shipments come. Pretty inconvenient if you ask me. Also, I was put on the waitlist about 3 weeks ago. I was told that I was 30th on the waitlist, so I thought that it wasn't that bad. I called today to check if I had moved any farther up the list by now. The employee notified me that I was actually 130th on the list. If my calculations are correct and iPhone shipment DOES NOT speed up, I won't be able to get an iPhone 4 until May of 2012. Americans don't seem to have this problem, they have iPhone 4's in huge quantities. Why is Canada getting such little love?

Def not Rogers fault.
I feel your pain, I've been cruising around every FIDO store in my area, calling every store, but they are always sold out. They get random shipments from apple, not their fault. My local FIDO store I was told has recieved only 5 iPhone 4 since release -.-
But today I got so close, they got a random shipment, so I went to the store to find the last one was sold less than 5 minutes before me

Isn't Bell part of Rogers? If I get an iPhone from Bell, can I keep my existing account and everything?

I'm pretty sure No. Rogers owns Fido and it's diff accounts

Bell and Rogers use different technology!
Bell uses Sim Cards and Rogers don't. I think you can unlock the phone to work on both networks but I'm not familiar with the entire process.
Right now I have a rogers iphone 3G and a Bell iphone 4.
The bell required me to insert a chip looking like thing called a sim card.

Rogers have simcards...
For the iPhone4 it uses microsim...

where did they put the sim card in my iphone 3G I don't see any spot for it...

Lol what? Top of your phone? Between the sleep button and headphone jack
09-03-2010, 01:44 PM #13
I guess I never realized because they did it for me but with my bell iphone 4 I had to do it myself seeing I didn't by it from an actual phone company. I will check it out when I go home and see if the spot is there.
If this is true (which it is because I Googled it) what is the different between the technologies?

Rogers owns Fido
Bell owns Virigin
Telus owns Koodo
As a mater of fact, the US isn't much better of. The demand is very high for the iPhone, and production is comparably slow.
The only thing you can do is wait, and hope people drop out of the waiting list.
Or if you have the money, order a factory unlocked one from Apple. They ship it out in under 3 weeks.

This is frustrating and also sadly typical of Apple. They know that their phones are going to fly off of the shelves and yet they are still unprepared. The U.S. Is faring alot better though. My local store can't move the phones at all so they always have them in stock. I have been waiting for the white ones to be released or at least a proximity sensor firmware fix.
