[Project] Tracfone for iPhone
So i'm in the process of a carrier bundle for iPhone users that want to use a Tracfone sim card. I have ran into a few problems, one being the APN info, but other than that its coming along well. If you have the apn info, or can find it out, i will greatly appreciate it.
I will have my carrier bundle up in a link soon for those willing to help.

i prety much am modding the at&t bundle since tracfones use at&t's network. so its similar, but not close where it needs to be. plus i need tracfone sim card numbers to add to the file, (i tried with little success) and of course the APN settings.

For the MCC/MNC, you can put the SIM in the phone, let the phone recognize the network, go to the phone app, dial *3001#12345#* to get into Field Test mode. Then go to MM Info > Serving PLMN and there should be your Mobile Country Code (MCC) and Mobile Network Code (MNC). Post all your MCC/MNC, those that have Tracfone, then compile it into the carrier bundle. All that's left is the APN. For that try calling the company and make a bs excuse for them to give it to you (phone is asking for APN to access data (lol, that's not really bs though, the iPhone IS asking for the APN, just try until you get lucky)).

ok everyone that has a tracfone and an iPhone, i need you to get your MNC and MCC so i can put them in the carrier bundle. if yours are "310" and "410" then no need to post them, as they are already supported by default in the AT&T bundle.

i read that when you activate your tracfone you are asked for you IMEI, that sim then becomes locked to that IMEI. I tried putting my friends SIM in my iPhone and it didnt work, no networks were detected. I assume this may have something to do with it?

I appreciate your website, easy to use and knowledgable. I am a 10 yr tracfone subscriber and cannot find anything that compares yet price wise for my use. So finding this thread was awesome, I will be back daily for updates. Thanks!
I did another search and found another form where someone wrote this:
"running an unlocked/jailbroken 3GS on 3.0 with 4.26.08. My data plan is the BIS. I use the APN hack via unlockit.co.nz for data."
Then another user said this:
"I went from a hacked 3.01 to 3.12. I lost my APN settings. I went back to that website where you download the carrier file and it works fine now.
I don't know what baseband I have. Oh, I have a 3G not 3GS, so maybe it works differently."
Dont know if that will help, but hope so and if you can spell it out for us dummies in laymens terms how to do it, i'd be really grateful lol.
Thanks,

the directions are not clear enough.
please post step by step instructions.
thank you!
ok, i put the tracphone sim card in,
then it says i have one bar of service.
the iphone wont send a sms or make a call.
then i downloaded "sn0w" from blackra1n.
then it searches for service and it says no service.
i also downloaded the AT & T and Tmobile carrier bundles.
it still doesnt have service.
What should i do next??Last edited by contompasis; 12-15-2009 at 03:13 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

we have to mod the at&t carrier bundle since Tracfone sim cards use the at&t network.

ok so ive gotten a little farther on this. I can go to place a call, it will hang at the calling screen for about 15 seconds then says call failed. ive done some research and it looks like we need to get the sim's unloock code from tracfone, as they place a lock on it to lock it to your tracfone alone. i'll call them up/email them tomorrow and see what i can get from them.
ok so it looks like "65535" is the physical sim number, and thats already in the bundle.Last edited by devteamtools; 01-21-2010 at 07:50 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Hey thanks for the info. Wish I could help more. I have a sim card reader, just not the software to read it.
