3G iPhone on a 2.5G Network?

Right now I have the old 2G iPhone and I use Viaero as my carrier. They have EDGE for the data plan. Can I buy a iPhone 3G and still use EDGE data plan? I've read that data wouldn't be at 3G speeds. Thanks

Yes you can use a 3G iphone BUT you WONT get 3G speeds, you would obviously still get only Edge speeds for data.
