iPhone with Sprint (Possible... Maybe) - UNCONFIRMED.
Greetings,
I am a student that has been unlocking iphone in the US for over a year. I began to talk to a buddy of mine who is from Turkey and just went home for the semester. I unlocked an iPhone 3G for him on 2.2.1 using yellow snow. He IS on sprint with a US number. He called Sprint and said he was going home. They sent him a SIM card which he snapped into his iphone and has sent me text and made phone calls from. I am not sure if this would work in the US, but i am patiently awaiting him to return to the US so i can confirm this.
Will post picture if i can get him to send me some.
Again this IS NOT CONFIRMED yet.... but this would be interestingR.I.P - 8GB iPhone - Pwnd - 1.1.4 - T-MobileUSA

His SIM will only work outside the US (same as Verizon's international roaming SIM), as Sprint (nor Verizon) offers no GSM roaming in the US.

Not true, both Sprint and Verizon offer SIM cards for those that want to use their Sprint or Verizon number overseas with GSM phones (and their own dual mode phones like the Samsung ACE or the Blackberry Storm), as only a handful of countries use CDMA.
There's reasons why Verizon's Blackberry Storm comes with a Verizon/Vodaphone-branded SIM card in it, and Sprint has a few CDMA/GSM or iDEN/GSM phones come with international SIMs installed.
The following link contains a list of Sprint's GSM International Roaming Partners, as an example.
Sprint PCS Clear Pay Program Terms
Note no US carrier is listed there, because US GSM roaming isn't allowed on Sprint.Last edited by GenesisDH; 05-09-2009 at 08:03 PM. Reason: typo
