    A VPN is a virtual private connection to a network, for example in companies. It allows users to access their companies mail servers from outside of their computer network. Not useful for average user. You are interested in APN (Access Point Name) which is a setting which defines an internet network your phone can connect to.

    I've already sorted the apn side of it, i just wondered about the vpn stuff as i have the option for it
