Swirly MMS settings for ROGERS in Toronto?
Hey there,
I've been looking and found a couple settings via Google but they haven't worked on my 3g here in toronto.
Does anyone know the rogers MMS settings I should enter into swirly?
This is what I have:
MMSC: mms.gprs.172.25.107
PROXY: 172.25.0.107
APN:media.com
USERNAME: media
PASSWORD: mda01
Image size: medium
UserAgent: iphone
This is stuff I found via Google. The other settings I found had a ':8080' after the '107' in the proxy (I think) but it didn't work either.
Can anyone help? Thanks guys!

MMSC should be mms.gprs.rogers.com as per MMS Settings for various MMS Service provider (MMSC) Though I had to take out the "http://" and I was then able to send and receive MMS over Rogers network. Just wish this app was cheaper than $8.00 or that Apple would of included MMS in their latest 2.2 firmware update. Keep in mind that unless you have a package on your account that includes MMS (picture messaging) then it's $0.50 per MMS.

So I'm able to send but no receive directly to phone
Hi all,
After some google'n around as much as the next person would, I was able to use SwirlySMS with Rogers based on the following; however, I can only send MMS but not receive them. I would get the following SMS notification instead of the MMS directed to my iphone. I want incoming MMS to be directly sent to my iPhone.
" Uve received a video or picture msg from XXXXXXXXXX Click link below 2 view from phone (fees apply) or view via PC https://picturemessaging.rogers.com "
My questions are:
Has anyone been successful in actually receiving MMS on their iphone?
Does anyone have a YouTube or Google Video of SwirlySMS set up on Rogers Wireless walkthrough?
What Rogers plan do you have? Do you require a MMS package from Rogers to receive MMS? Is there any feature or package requirements need to be enabled?
What settings did I overlook or do I have to call Rogers to activate something?
iPhone
iPhone 3G + v.2.2 JB with PwnageTool_2.2.1 using iPhone1,2_2.2_5G77
SwirlySMS
I believe I am using (1.2.10-1): 88439
See screenshot. I've used both with and without "http://" and they both did not resolve the issue. But I am able to send MMS with either.
My Rogers Wireless Package
250/Unlimited Eve/Wkds Plan (typical plan)
SMS Bundle Pack (legacy package but includes a bundled set of txt messages)
Essential Value Pack (legacy package which similar to the current value pack but without Name Display and Ench. VM)
Data Server Plan 6GB
Any help/advice is greatly appreciated!
EDIT:
Regarding the screenshot, I do get the green icon beside the Bluetooth icon
Cheers,

Here are the correct settings for rogers here in Toronto:
MMSC: http://mms.gprs.rogers.com
PROXY: 172.25.0.107
APN media.com
USERNAME media
PASSWORD: mda01
Yes it works.
Yes I've received mms pic texts
Its extra to send MMS's like 40 or 50 cents (ive been told both, haven't checked a bill yet)
(I think I read that swirly doesn't work on the updated 2.2 but I'm sure they'll update that. I haven't updated to 2.2 yet though.)

Ok.. So I've decided to give this another try...
I'm using SwirlyMMS version 1.2.15 (Jan 2009 release) now. But I can't seem to get the (GREEN) M to appear, therefore I can't send and receive any MMS right now due to improper MMS settings
I'm still using the same iPhone and firmware as stated above, but I just can't seem to find the right MMS settings to make it work.
Which one did you choose from their list of preset (installation wizard) MMS settings that turns the M to green for Rogers Wireless?
BTW, reading over some feedback on their website, it seems the latest build works quite well and a lot of ppl report that now they get a MMS directly to their phone instead of the SMS text from Rogers with url to the pic.
Thanks!
When you say not receive, what do you mean? Do you get a SMS instead?Last edited by ramie416; 02-07-2009 at 09:51 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

I have upgraded to 2.2.1 and SwirlyMMS does NOT work for me anymore. I have tried everything. I have restored my phone, reset all network settings, re-installed SwirlyMMS a few times, tried each and every know MMS settings for Rogers and the "green M" will not show up. It will not connect.
I think firmware 2.2.1 screws things up, for Rogers anyways. One thing I notice is that the phone does not pick up a data IP when starting Swirly. I will run Safari, or whatever when on 3G and it will show me a data IP address (in SBSettings). With only Swirly open or with nothing open needing an IP address, it will not get one.
I need help. Anyone have this working on Rogers on FW 2.2.1?

YES! Got it working! It took a bit of troubleshooting but finally.. Green M, and able to send and receive!
So I'm going to recap what I have done:
First, my iphone is on 2.2... and judging from previous post, I'm not looking to upgrade anytime soon. Not until I know 2.2.1 works with SwirlySMS and software SIM unlock using Yellowsnow. But Also note that I am using the latest release of SwirlySMS
So I began my troubleshooting with my sister's phone. Its a Sony Ericson. Its not unlocked, but we are both on Rogers so I was able to swap the SIM cards. My goal at first is to see if its my phone or the SIM card. Of course, I tested MMS sending and receiving with my sister's phone first prior to the SIM swap. So I confirmed that by default, my sister's phone can send and receive MMS texts on the phone itself (send/receive to itself) Then I swamped the SIM cards. So my iphone is with her SIM and my SIM in her phone. Guess what, I was able to send and receive MMS on her phone ith my iPhone SIM card; however, I was NOT able to send and recieve using SwirlySMS with her SIM card--and No the Green M was there... So I began researching. It was obvious that the SIM card support MMS but its something with my iPhone that doesn't work. I found a post on someplace abut verifying the APN settings on the iPhone. That got me thinking... I thought SwirlySMS suppose to do that. But there is another netwrok settings found on the iPhone that is hidden. I downloaded an app from Cydia called APN Editing. (NOTE the WARNING that comes with this) I confirmed that the "Cellular Data Network" was not present prior to installing the APN Editing app. if you have this configuration setting don't install APN Editing.
Under Settings > General > Network > "Cellular Data Network", the APN settings was set to: rogers-core-appl1.apn (Not the same as swirlySMS uses. So I changed to the one I have set up with SwirlySMS.
SUCESS! While still using my sister's SIM Card, I sent a MMS to myself. SwirlySMS sent it, and few seconds later I got the reply!! So, I'm 50% there.. so now, I want to eee if my SIM Card works. I swapped back the SIMs to their righful phones. I double chedked the APN settings again, and guess what! They've changed back. So from now on, everytime I were to swap my SIM I will need to verify the APN settings and Reboot my ipHone to make sure the setings stick, you may want to temp disable Wifi during this test to ensure you are using the 3G Network, also you may want to Turn ON+OFF+ON the 3G setting and see if its something from the 3G that is causing the APN setting revert back to default eogers-core-appl1.apn
After going trhought some validation steps, so I know what breaks it and what didn't. I was able to get my iPhone fw 2.2 working with SwirlySMS just like they've advertizied! Final test, I sent a MMS from my sister's phone to mine and wiola, MMS in inbox!
NOW... I don't know yet what my data usage will turn out to be when I've changed my APN settings.. but I do have the 6GB Data Plan. I'm asummig if you don't have a data plan at all, nor a SMS/MMS essentail service package, it may change you Pay-Per-MMS AND Data Usage! I'll report back in a month and see if they've screwed me or not!
Btw, the M (Green) took about 20 seconds to show... so be patient if you are trying different settings from within SwirlySMS
Hope this post helped you in some ways to get your SwirlySMS working. If so, let us know what you've done differently.

ramie416....THANK YOU!!!
All I did was enter the Rogers APN above into the APN in Swirly and voila!!
The M will turn green, but I still cannot send or receive. But I am getting closer.
I also tried the settings below without username and password and it did connect.
Here are my settings.
MMSC: mms.gprs.rogers.com
Proxy: 172.25.0.107
APN: rogers-core-appl1.apn
Username: media
Password: mda01

No problem

Have you tried using the following settings?
(See attached screenshot) and also try using the same APN settings I posted earlier in my previous post.
your APN: rogers-core-appl1.apn try switching it to APN: internet.com
Actually try matching the settings for the APN/Username/Password to both the iPhone Cell Data Network settings as well as Swirly.
(Note the Proxy and MMSC settings in Swirly

Yes I just did and perfect success. Send and receive works.
I left the iPhone APN as rogers-core-appl1.apn and just entered the settings in Swirly as you have there.
Works perfect.
Problem solved.
