Default rogers canada, vidual voicemail help

I have a JailBroken 3G iPhone, and before the jailbreak visual voicemail worked fine.

Now pressing the voicemail button calls my voicemail inbox. Is there a way to fix visual voicemail?

    Thanks in advance

Jail breaking your iPhone should not cause visual voice mail to stop functioning. However if for some reason your phone loses sync with the data portion of visual voice mail it will cause the phone to always dial. Try doing a reset of all network settings and then turn your phone off by holding the sleep wake key and then sliding to power off and then turn it back on after 10 seconds. You could also try reprogramming in the retrieval number by dialing *5005*86*16478029327# on the keypad then pressing the call key, you should see please wait appear briefly on the screen. If this fails you then call in to technical support and get some other troubleshooting done, make sure you do not call from the iPhone as troubleshooting is not possible while the phone is in use. Toll free contact number is 1-888-ROGERS1 (764-3771). You can also call from a different cell phone as long as its not the one with an issue. Keep in mind however that if there was a corruption in the phone app on the phone then it is possible that jail breaking brought out the issue due to the modification of the files. If you used quickpwn you may want to try using the full pwnagetool or winpwn if you use windows however you will need to make sure you have backed up your contacts through itunes, and imported your pictures from the camera roll.

    Hey Alex (thedaemon666),

I have a first gen iPhone (jailbroken and unlocked) and am using it here in Vancouver with Rogers. I was able to get the $30/6GB data plan added to my account even though I don't 'technically' have an iPhone (or a Smartphone) in the eyes of Rogers.

I'd like to be able to add visual voice mail to my account and also the $15 or $20 smartphone/iphone value pack. How can I get Rogers to do this? Can I just give them my current IMEI # or does it have to be an IMEI # from a "Rogers" iPhone? If it has to be a "Rogers" iPhone IMEI #, can I use any IMEI # I come accross (ie: Demo iPhone), or does it have to actually be the IMEI # from my iPhone for VVM to work?

    Thanks!

While you can use any of the Smartphone data plans with the iPhone there is a restriction with Rogers and Fido internal account software to not allow a non-Rogers iPhone IMEI to be entered. This is due to an agreement Rogers has with Apple to limit the number of unlocked iPhones being used on their network. Meaning a non-Rogers iPhone can't get either the $8.00 Visual Voicemail or the $15.00 iPhone Value Pack (call display, 2500 National sms, whocalled, Visual Voicemail). You can add the $15.00 Smartphone Value Pack (call display, enhanced voicemail, whocalled, 2500 National sms) though you won't get the Visual Voicemail feature, just the old way of getting voicemail messages.
