can't connect to wireless network
hey,
I've got a 3G and it I just activated the account this morning, but it keeps giving me this weird error message:
"can not conect to wireless data network"
But here's the odd thing, it gives me that error and then after 20 seconds or so it downloads my mail...???
I'm on rogers, has anyone gotten this???
Cheers

Did you subscribe to a smartphone data plan with Rogers? If not then they may have blocked your data access on your account. They will do this to help you avoid high usage charges. Also the agent will block your data if you left an ineligible value package on the account such as the $20.00 Value Pack which includes unlimited mobile WAP browsing to select websites on both Vision and regular cellphones. This package includes unlimited mobile personal email for select domains. You wouldn't notice the data is not working if you were using WIFI on a WLAN until you left the WIFI coverage area. You may also have an issue with your APN settings which should activate over the air when you first activated your iPhone 3G. If you believe this may be the case then call Rogers iPhone Technical Support from an alternate line, not from the iPhone. You connect with them by dialing 1-866-931-DATA (3282) and use the keywords "iPhone technical support" to get a trained iPhone tech. If they are unable to resolve your issue they will most likely ship you a swap or you can book an appointment on Apple.ca with your local Apple Store. To do the latter go to Apple.ca and in the search engine type "retail" then select from the drop down menu "Genius Bar" then select your local Apple Store and enter your information to select an appointment. Apple's Genius Bar staff determine whether a swap is warranted and if it's covered under the warranty. If they do then you'll get a swap at the Apple store with out having to wait for shipping. Note: If your iPhone is jailbroken then do a full restore of the iPhone to wipe out any hints that you jailbroke the iPhone as this voids Apple's warranty coverage.
