Right now, I'm on prepaid with an unlocked iPhone on rogers. I was wondering, is it possible to stay and prepaid and get a data plan, like the $30 6gb one? Would this plan work with the 2g iPhone? Also, how fast is EDGE on average? For example, how long would it take to load modmyi.com on EDGE?

Hi,

No you would not be able to get the $30 6GB data plan for prepaid on rogers. As for the data plan working on the first generation iPhone is a yes but you need to program in the rogers internet.com apn settings. Simply putting in the apn name with user name and password will not work as DNS and ip address information will be missing and no connection will be able to be made to the data network. Other features such as visual voice mail will not work as well due to different implementations of the server based on service provider. Having an iPhone on rogers prepaid is rather useless when it comes to data.
