    Default Continuing thoughts on nextel...

First of all, DO NOT GIVE ME THE "n00b, nextel is teh id3n t3chn0l0g33, n0t gsm," because i know this, i am fully aware. Both my parents use nextel and i use a prepaid at&t. My brother sits on his *** playing WoW all day.

So I unlocked my phone - THANK YOU GEOHOT (no h*mo), and thought, hey, why not put their sim in. Ive done this before I unlocked and it told me its an invalid sim card. This time i rly unlocked it and it says no service, then network lost later.

So as far as an unlock, could we go farther? maybe redirecting frequencies towards iden technology instead of the gsm standard? still may be worth it.

it's based on things like network codecs and transmitting frequencies and things. from what i recall, even if you could get the codecs and signals to match they run on different frequencies. same reason some TMO phone won't work on att - no 800 MHz built in.

you would practically need to rebuild the inside of your iphone to work on nextel. If it was possible to do it by modifying it without opening it then it would have already been done and figured out. It would be cool but it's just not possible unless your a freakin genious and know how to rebuild your iphone...lol

Not possible, because iden and GSM communicate differently to the tower using difference sections of frequencies and other things. So its not possible. Besides the nextel iDEN technology will be turned off soon anyways.
