iPhone 3G on o2 PAYG Confirmation
Hi,
I struggled to find this information on the web before getting my 3G so I thought I would post this confirmation. I bought an unactivated 3G on ebay, a standard o2 PAYG sim from an o2 store. Inserted the sim and plugged the iPhone up to iTunes. Phone activated straight away with no problems. Had a bit of trouble getting the data working though. Finally got it working by changing the settings in the General-> Network -> Cellular Data Network Section. Change the APN to payandgo.o2.co.uk and LEAVE the username as 'vertigo'. After that all should be fine. I then added the PAYG iPhone bolt on and about 24hours later I can now browse the web for free.
So, no special hacking, no special sim cards... All works out of the box.
Hope someone finds this usefull if they are thinking of buying a 3G off eBay etc!!!
Cheers,
Matt.
