ROGERS and expensive bill due to data usage

well f**k rogers. i could never get mobile internet on my iphone ever since i got it. it would say "you are not subscribed to edge." well today i click on app store when im at work and it actually loads so im like "wtf" and i think maybe it just loads all the categories, not the actual apps. so i download one. turns out it was a 4mb download and it worked. first of all, why was i all of a sudden able to use EDGE? and second of all, my bill will be over $250, is it true that rogers has like a forgive and forget thing for data where they drop the charges off one bill if you ask them? thanks for the help

Because 2.0 firmware has NO way of disabling Edge. I tried to warn people. People don't listen. Just call Rogers and tell them to disable all Internet to your account from their end.

If you have Cydia, you can install OpenSSH and there's a file on the phone you can alter to disable Edge, but if you're worried about messing up with the files on the iPhone, just call Rogers and do the thing I mentioned above.

Wi-Fi will still work.
